Zoe Barnett

Ellen Zoe Barnett (1883 – December 19, 1969) was an American actress who built her career in musical comedies, appearing on Broadway between 1913 and 1921. Born and raised in Glendale, California, she sang in church choirs during her youth before pursuing a professional stage career.

Barnett launched her performing career in Los Angeles and San Francisco, working in regional theater until 1909, when she transitioned to national touring productions. Her Broadway debut came in 1913 with All Aboard, and she went on to appear in The Midnight Girl in 1914, followed by The Debutante, which ran from 1914 into 1915. Her later Broadway work included Jim Jam Jems, which ran from 1920 to 1921, The Rose Girl in 1921, and Blossom Time, which extended from 1921 through 1923.

In her personal life, Barnett was married twice. Her first husband was actor Wayne Nunn; the marriage ended in divorce in 1919. In 1924 she married actor and playwright William M. Pinkham, having been named as co-respondent in his divorce from playwright Frances Nordstrom. Following her marriage to Pinkham, Barnett retired from the professional stage, though she remained active in theatrical production through the Sorosis chapter in Patchogue, New York. Pinkham died in 1958, leaving her widowed.

Barnett died on December 19, 1969, at a nursing home in Port Jefferson, New York, at the age of 86. Her papers are preserved in the New York State Historical Documents Library in Albany, New York.
