About
Zak Orth, born Adam Zachary Orth on October 15, 1970, in Libertyville, Illinois, is an American actor whose work spans stage, film, and television. The son of Jane Orth, a piano teacher, and Robert Orth, an opera singer, he studied at The Theatre School at DePaul University.
Orth's Broadway career extended from 2001 to 2019 and included appearances in two plays. He starred in Major Barbara and also appeared in Hillary and Clinton.
On screen, Orth has accumulated a range of film credits, among them Wet Hot American Summer, The Baxter, Melinda and Melinda, In and Out, and Music and Lyrics. An early film role placed him in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, in which he played the character Gregory. He went on to star in the NBC drama Revolution, portraying a character named Aaron, and also appeared in the television series NYC 22.
Orth has a longstanding connection to the comedy group Stella, whose members count him as a close friend. He appeared in a number of their short films as well as their 2005 television series. He is additionally one half of The Doilies, a musical comedy duo he formed with Michael Showalter.
