Yvonne Marceau

Yvonne Marceau is an American ballroom dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor whose career spans performance, education, and arts administration. A native of Chicago, Illinois, she earned a B.F.A. from the University of Utah and an associate degree from the Imperial Society of Ballroom Dance.

In 1984, Marceau and her dance partner Pierre Dulaine co-founded American Ballroom Theater. The two competed extensively as a pair, accumulating numerous ballroom dance contest victories, including four wins at the British Exhibition ballroom competition. Archival footage of the duo performing "Blue Danube" at Jacob's Pillow dates to 1987. Marceau has received the Astaire Award and the Dance Magazine Award in recognition of her contributions to the field.

Marceau made her Broadway appearance in 1989 in Grand Hotel. Beyond the stage, she and Dulaine developed the Ballroom Theater's Dancing Classrooms program, an initiative that gained wider public attention through its inclusion in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom.

Her teaching career has been equally extensive. Since 1993, Marceau has been a faculty member at The Juilliard School. She has also taught at the School of American Ballet, for New York City social organizations including the Union Club and cotillion societies, and at the NYU Tisch New Studio on Broadway.
