About
Winifred Kingston (November 11, 1894 – February 3, 1967) was a British-born American actress who worked in both silent film and on the Broadway stage. Born in Britain, she received her education in Scotland and Belgium before beginning her stage career in England. She subsequently relocated to the United States, where she pursued work in both theater and film.
Kingston's Broadway career spanned from 1911 to 1927. Her earliest credited stage appearance in New York came in 1911, when she played Crobyle in Thais. Her later Broadway work included two productions in 1927: she took on the role of Helen Farquhar in Caste and portrayed Juliette Corton in The Matrimonial Bed.
Her screen career brought her into frequent collaboration with actor Dustin Farnum, alongside whom she appeared in films including The Squaw Man and The Virginian. On August 24, 1924, Kingston and Farnum were married in Los Angeles, and together they had a daughter named Estelle. Following Farnum's death in 1929, Kingston later married oil executive Carman R. Runyon.
Kingston died on February 3, 1967, at her home in La Jolla.
