Willy Switkes, a character actor and longtime New York City resident, appeared in dozens of films, often in uncredited or barely identified roles. In "Tootsie," he played the "man at cab" who gets thrown from a taxi after trying to cut in front of Dustin Hoffman's title character. His other screen credits include "Taxi Driver," "The French Connection," and "Bananas." Beyond film, he appeared on Broadway and served as an understudy to Buster Keaton during a 1960 tour of Once Upon a Mattress.
