About
William Blaisdell (April 1865 – January 1, 1931) was an American actor who worked in both stage and film. His Broadway career spanned more than two decades, from 1899 to 1922, during which he appeared in a range of productions across multiple genres.
Among his stage credits were the musical Vienna Life, the burlesque Star and Garter, the musical The Toreador, the musical The Evil Eye, and the play Drifting. He also took on the role of the Marquis de Pontsablé in the comic opera Madame Favart.
Blaisdell was additionally active in silent film. In 1918 he appeared alongside Harold Lloyd in a number of comedic short films, including Fireman Save My Child, Here Come the Girls, On the Jump, Pipe the Whiskers, Take a Chance, Hey There!, The City Slicker, An Ozark Romance, Bees in His Bonnet, Swing Your Partners, Hear 'Em Rave, and Two-Gun Gussie. His screen work extended into the following decade, with appearances in Hot Sands and Racing Luck in 1924, Crazy like a Fox in 1926, The Yankee Clipper in 1927, and both Rough Dried and Sappy Service in 1929. Earlier film credits include Bashful and Step Lively, both from 1917.
Blaisdell died on January 1, 1931. He was survived by his widow, fellow actor Clara Lavine, who died on December 29, 1948, at the age of 75.
