Walter Armitage was a South African playwright, stage actor, and film actor born on 1 June 1906 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He died on 22 February 1953.
Armitage established a presence on both stage and screen during the early 1930s. His Broadway career included an appearance in the 1931 play Melo, making him one of the South African-born performers to reach the New York stage during that era.
His film work ran concurrently with his stage career. In 1931 alone, Armitage appeared in three productions: Potiphar's Wife, A Honeymoon Adventure, and The Love Habit. He continued working in film throughout the mid-1930s, with screen credits including Bombay Mail, The Dover Road, and Great Expectations, all released in 1934.
