About

Wallace Eddinger (July 14, 1881/1883 – January 8, 1929) was an American stage actor born in Albany, New York, whose Broadway career spanned from 1893 to 1927. He came from a theatrical family, born to actors Lawrence Eddinger (1855–1928) and May Williams Eddinger (1858–1944), and had an older sister, Lorle Eddinger (1879–1969).

Eddinger began performing as a child under the name Wally Eddinger, appearing in the role of Cedric in a production of Little Lord Fauntleroy that featured child actress Elsie Leslie. His early start on the stage led to a decades-long career in which he became associated with a number of notable productions, including Seven Keys to Baldpate, And So To Bed, On Approval, and A Tale of the Wolf.

Despite venturing briefly into silent film, Eddinger appeared in only two pictures: The Great Diamond Robbery in 1914 and A Gentleman of Leisure in 1915, the latter of which survives. He otherwise devoted his career to the stage.

Eddinger was married twice. His first marriage, to Ivy Lee Moore-La Grove, lasted from 1912 to 1920. In 1924 he married stage actress Margaret Lawrence (1889–1929), who had previously been married to publisher Orson Munn, with whom she had two daughters. Eddinger died on January 8, 1929. Six months after his death, Margaret Lawrence was killed in New York City by her lover, actor Louis Bennison, following a drunken quarrel; Bennison subsequently took his own life in what was ruled a murder-suicide.
