About
Vyto Ruginis, born Vytautas Ignacas Ruginis on April 17, 1956, in Wolverhampton, England, is an American actor of Lithuanian descent. He was raised in Cicero, Illinois, and pursued formal training in theater, earning a BFA from the University of Illinois followed by an MFA from Yale University in 1982.
Ruginis made his Broadway debut in 1984, appearing in The Real Thing. He returned to the stage in 2014, when he appeared in the play In the Water, directed by Sharyn Rothstein.
His screen career spans both film and television across several decades. Among his film appearances are Jumpin' Jack Flash alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone, Broken Arrow with John Travolta and Christian Slater, The Devil's Advocate featuring Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves, The Fast and the Furious, and Auto Focus. On television, he is recognized for portraying the vampire Russell Winters in the premiere episode of Angel, titled "City Of." His additional television credits include CSI, Murder She Wrote, House M.D., The X-Files, ER, Law & Order, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
On September 12, 2015, Ruginis was inducted into the National Lithuanian American Hall of Fame.
