About

Vivian Bonnell, born Enid Mosier on May 23, 1924, in Antigua, British West Indies, was an actress and calypso singer whose Broadway career spanned more than three decades, from 1943 to 1976. Among her stage credits were St. Louis Woman, Beggar's Holiday, Hilarities, House of Flowers, and The Wiz.

In 1954, Bonnell appeared alongside Pearl Bailey in the Broadway musical House of Flowers. During that period, she and fellow cast members recorded calypso material under the name Enid Mosier and her Trinidad Steel Band. One of those performers, Austin Stoker, later became her husband. After adopting the name Vivian Bonnell professionally, she expanded her work into film and television, including appearances in American TV movies.

Bonnell died on November 18, 2003, in Los Angeles from complications related to diabetes. She was 79 years old.
