Virginia Biddle

Virginia Biddle (December 17, 1910 – February 21, 2003) was an American showgirl, revue performer, and former nude model whose Broadway career spanned from 1927 to 1932. She performed regularly in Florenz Ziegfeld's Follies productions for several years, becoming a fixture in his celebrated revue format.

Biddle's Broadway work began with the musical Rio Rita, in which she appeared during the 1927–1928 season. She subsequently appeared in the musical Smiles during the 1930–1931 season, followed by the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931. Her final Broadway credit was the musical Hot-Cha!, which ran in 1932.

Her stage career came to an end following a serious accident in July 1931, when an explosion aboard Harry Richman's yacht, the Chavalmar II, left Biddle with burns to her feet and ankles. A fellow cast member from the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931, Helen Walsh, died as a result of the same incident. Biddle performed in a benefit production of the Follies held in Walsh's memory, but the injuries she sustained also forced her to give up dancing. She pursued legal action against Richman, seeking $50,000 in damages, and was ultimately awarded $50.

Following her departure from the stage, Biddle married twice and had three children. She later established a career as a realtor in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. She died on February 21, 2003, shortly after sustaining injuries in a car accident.
