About
Vincent Guastaferro is an American actor born on April 6, 1950, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Regina Blake and Arcangelo Guastaferro. He grew up alongside his brother Thomas and sister Elizabeth Ann. Guastaferro pursued formal training in the performing arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Toledo and a Master of Fine Arts from The Theatre School at DePaul University.
Guastaferro launched his professional career in 1979 on the stage, replacing Jim Belushi in a production of Sexual Perversity in Chicago. That early work established a lasting association with the plays of David Mamet, whose work Guastaferro would return to repeatedly throughout his stage career. In 1997, he made his Broadway debut in The Old Neighborhood, playing Joey, a friend of the play's central character.
His television career began in 1980 with an appearance on the drama series Lou Grant. He went on to play the recurring role of John Kousakis in the crime series Wiseguy, and from 1993 to 1997 portrayed Sgt. Vincent Agostini in the police procedural NYPD Blue, the role for which he became most widely recognized. Additional television credits include guest appearances on Home Improvement, Becker, What's Happening Now!!, Hardcastle and McCormick, CSI: NY, Melrose Place, Hunter, The West Wing, and Brooklyn South.
On screen, Guastaferro appeared in the 1981 film King of the Mountain as a gang member before taking on the role of Deputy Rick Cologne in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives in 1986. He played Paulie in the 1989 film Next of Kin and Lt. Senna in the 1991 film Homicide. His other film credits include Things Change, Eyes of an Angel, Touch Me, Nothing in Common, State and Main, Trouble Bound, and the 2012 film An Old Man's Gold. He reprised the role of Rick Cologne in the fan films Never Hike in the Snow in 2020 and Never Hike Alone 2 in 2023, and appeared in the documentary films His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th in 2009 and Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th in 2013.
