About
Vicki Noon is an American theater performer born in 1985 in Tucson, Arizona, whose Broadway appearances span from 2001 to 2009 and include credits in Mamma Mia! and Wicked. She is particularly recognized for her work in Wicked, having covered and performed the lead role of Elphaba across multiple productions before taking on the part as principal on the Second National Tour.
Noon was raised in Newcastle, Washington, having relocated there from Tucson at a young age with her family. Her mother held a position in airplane systems at the Federal Aviation Administration, and her father works as a systems engineer at The Boeing Company; her parents divorced in 1997. She grew up alongside an older sister and received her performing arts training at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts. At thirteen, in 1998, she appeared as the title character in Violet at Seattle's A Contemporary Theater. Noon also attended high school with Tim Lincecum, the San Francisco Giants pitcher who won the National League Cy Young Award in both 2008 and 2009.
Before her extensive work in Wicked, Noon performed the principal role of Sophie on the 2007 North American tour of Mamma Mia! and appeared as Demeter on the national tour of Cats.
Noon's involvement with Wicked began in April 2008, when she joined the Chicago production as an ensemble member and understudy for Elphaba. Her first performance in the role took place on July 19, 2008. She subsequently joined the Los Angeles production as standby Elphaba, replacing Marcie Dodd on November 4, 2008, and continued standing by for Eden Espinosa until the production closed in Hollywood on January 11, 2009. Noon then moved to the San Francisco production, where she served as standby for Teal Wicks. She stepped in for an ailing Wicks during previews beginning January 27, 2009, with opening night following on February 6. From late March through early May 2009, she served as the temporary lead Elphaba while Wicks was on an extended leave of absence.
Noon departed the San Francisco production on March 7, 2010, and on April 6, 2010, replaced Marcie Dodd as the lead Elphaba on the Second North American Tour, performing opposite Natalie Daradich as Glinda. She played her final performance on the tour on January 23, 2011, in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona, and was succeeded by standby Anne Brummel. On August 14, 2012, Noon joined the Broadway production of Wicked as an ensemble member and understudy for Elphaba, replacing former understudy Caroline Bowman in that capacity. She subsequently performed as a standby for all female roles in the Broadway production of First Date.
