Vicki Lewis is an American actress and singer born on March 17, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Jim and Marlene Lewis. Her father served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic supervisor, and her mother worked as a nursing administrator. Lewis also has a sister. After completing her secondary education at Anderson High School in Cincinnati in 1978, she pursued musical theater studies at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. Following graduation, she relocated to New York City and began building a career across stage, film, and television.

Lewis made her Broadway debut in 1982 in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? and went on to accumulate a range of stage credits spanning several decades. She played Gloria Thorpe in Damn Yankees in 1994 and took on the role of Velma Kelly in Chicago in 2000 and 2001. Her stage work also included Mary Warren in The Crucible at the Roundabout Theatre in 1990 and a starring role in Wind in the Willows. In 2018, she appeared on Broadway as Countess Lily in Anastasia, directed by Darko Tresnjak. Off-Broadway, Lewis performed in I Can Get It For You Wholesale in 1991, Snoopy!!! The Musical in 1982, and in 2022 took on six roles in the original production of Between the Lines, for which she received an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. In 1995, she performed as a soloist with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall and appeared in Pal Joey for City Center Encores. In 2007, she won the Ovation Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for the world premiere of Michael John LaChiusa's Hotel C'est L'amour, and that same year appeared as Trina in a benefit performance of Falsettos opposite Jason Alexander and Malcolm Gets, during which her performance of "I'm Breaking Down" drew a spontaneous mid-show ovation lasting approximately one minute. In 2024, she starred as Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Master Class at The Bay Street Theatre, directed by Lisa Peterson.

On television, Lewis is perhaps most widely recognized for playing Beth in the NBC sitcom NewsRadio, a role she held for five seasons from 1995 to 1999. She subsequently appeared in Three Sisters, also on NBC. Her television work spans a broad range of series, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, How I Met Your Mother, The Goldbergs, Seinfeld, Murphy Brown, Home Improvement, The Middle, The Blacklist, and Angie Tribeca, among many others. She also appeared in Disney Channel's Sonny with a Chance and starred as Headmistress Knightslinger in Upside-Down Magic on the same network.

Lewis has contributed extensively to animated projects as a voice actress. She voiced the characters Deb and Flo in Pixar's Finding Nemo in 2003 and reprised those roles in the 2016 sequel Finding Dory. Her voice work additionally includes Wonder Woman in Justice League Heroes, Justice League: The New Frontier, King of the Hill, Hercules, An Extremely Goofy Movie, Rugrats Pre-School Daze, Ben 10, Phineas and Ferb, and Alpha and Omega and its sequel.

Her film credits include April Smuntz in Mouse Hunt, Dr. Elsie Chapman in Godzilla, and roles in Pushing Tin, Breakfast of Champions, The Ugly Truth, and I'll Do Anything. Lewis released her debut solo album, East of Midnight, in May 2010, a rock record featuring original songs she wrote as well as three cover songs. She is married to sound designer Philip G. Allen and previously was in a long-term relationship with Nick Nolte, whom she met during the production of I'll Do Anything.
