Veronica Castang

Veronica Castang (22 April 1938 – 5 November 1988) was a British actress who worked in film, stage, and television. Born in London, England, she received her education at Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls before pursuing further study at the Sorbonne and at the Questors Theatre in London.

Castang's stage career in the United States encompassed both Broadway and Off-Broadway work, with her Broadway appearances spanning from 1966 to 1979. She played Mrs. Boyle in Whose Life is it Anyway?, a run that lasted from April 17 to October 27, 1979, and took on the role of Sister McPhee in The National Health, which ran from October 10 to November 23, 1974. She also served as an understudy in How's the World Treating You?. Beyond Broadway, she was a frequent presence at the Phoenix Theatre and the Manhattan Theatre Club.

Her Off-Broadway credits included Cloud 9, in which she played Maud and Lin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and Bonjour, La, Bonjour, where she portrayed Lucienne at the Marymount Manhattan Theatre. She appeared as Frieda Joubert in Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act at Stage 73, and also performed in Ionescopade at Theatre Four and The Trigon at Stage 73.

Castang died on 5 November 1988 at her Manhattan home from complications of ovarian cancer, at the age of 50. She was survived by her stepfather, Clive Baker, and her aunt, Hilda Castang.
