Vernon Steele, born Arturo Romeo Antonietti on 18 September 1882 in Santiago, Chile, was a British actor who built a career across both the Broadway stage and American film. He died on 23 July 1955. His father, Daniel Antonietti, was a professor of music, and his mother, Grace Emma Bolton, was English. The family eventually settled in London, England. His sister, Hilda Anthony, was also an actress.
Steele performed on Broadway across a span of roughly twenty-five years, from 1906 to 1931. His stage credits included So Am I, The Roof, The Wonder Bar, The Ladder, and The Importance of Being Oscar, among other productions. In addition to his theatrical work, Steele appeared in American silent films, where he was frequently cast as patrician young men.
