About

Tyrone Huntley is a British actor born in March 1989 and raised in Lincoln, England, whose career has been centered primarily in musical theatre. He made his Broadway debut in 2019 in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Huntley's early stage work included the role of TJ in the UK tour of Sister Act, the Doctor in the original London cast of The Book of Mormon, and Gator in the original London cast of Memphis. In the summer of 2016, he took on the role of Judas in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, a performance that earned him nominations for both the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He returned to the role at the same venue in the summer of 2017.

Between November 2016 and June 2017, Huntley played C.C. White in the original London cast of Dreamgirls, departing the production in June 2017 to reprise his Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. In 2019, he directed Ain't Misbehavin', a musical revue centered on the songs of Fats Waller, at Southwark Playhouse. That same year marked his Broadway appearance in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Huntley was cast as Barnaby in the 2020 West End revival of Hello, Dolly!, which was to star Imelda Staunton in the title role, but the production was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He subsequently returned to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre for a socially distanced concert version of Jesus Christ Superstar, sharing the role of Judas with Ricardo Afonso. On December 2, 2021, Huntley joined the North American tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, again as Judas, replacing James D. Beeks following Beeks's arrest in connection with the January 6, 2021 United States Capitol attack.
