About

Tommy Janor Hollis (March 22, 1954 – September 9, 2001) was an American actor whose work spanned film, television, and stage. Born in Jacksonville, Texas, he built a career across multiple decades that encompassed both Hollywood productions and the New York theater world.

Hollis made his first notable film appearance in 1984, playing the mayor's aide in Ghostbusters. He later appeared in Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992), taking on the role of Earl Little. His screen work ran alongside an active stage career that brought him to Broadway between 1990 and 2001.

His Broadway debut earned him a Theatre World Award in 1990. Over the course of his stage career he appeared in six Broadway productions: The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, When Hell Freezes Over I'll Skate, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Ragtime. The range of those credits placed him in works by August Wilson as well as large-scale musical productions.
