About
Tom McBride was an American actor, model, and photographer born on October 7, 1952, in Charleston, West Virginia. His career spanned multiple disciplines, encompassing work in film, television, theater, and commercial modeling.
McBride appeared in two feature films during his career. In 1981, he took on the role of Mark in the horror film Friday the 13th Part 2, and in 1985 he had a role in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. His sole television credit was a guest appearance on the series Highway to Heaven.
On Broadway, McBride appeared in Fifth of July in 1980, joining the production near the end of its run. Beyond his acting work, he built a presence in commercial modeling, becoming recognized as one of the male models featured in Winston Cigarette billboard advertisements during the 1980s.
McBride was openly gay and died on September 24, 1995, from complications related to AIDS, thirteen days before what would have been his forty-third birthday. In the final months of his life, director Jay Corcoran documented his experience in a film titled Life & Death on the A-List.
