About
Thomas Loren Lenk was born on June 16, 1976, in Camarillo, California, to Pamela Sherman, a teacher, and Fred Lenk, a tuba player, high school music teacher, and school district computer network administrator. He attended Adolfo Camarillo High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Lenk began his professional acting career in 1997 with small film roles before landing his breakthrough in 2000 as Andrew Wells on the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon. He appeared in twenty-seven episodes of the series and reprised the role of Andrew in two episodes of its spinoff, Angel. His television work also includes guest appearances on Joey, House, Six Feet Under, Eli Stone, How I Met Your Mother, and Nip/Tuck. In 2013, he joined the Lifetime series Witches of East End as Hudson Rafferty, and in 2016 appeared in the third season finale of Transparent. His film credits include Date Movie, The Number 23, and Transformers. He also appeared in the web series Border Patrol, which premiered in June 2008 on Atom.com.
In addition to his screen work, Lenk is a singer and playwright who has written three plays and toured with the European cast of Grease. He originated the role of Franz in the musical Rock of Ages during its Las Vegas and Los Angeles productions in 2006, then assumed the role on Broadway beginning September 14, 2009. From 2009 to 2010, he documented his Broadway experience through a video blog series on YouTube titled Tom's Broadway Blogs.
Lenk has contributed video content to Felicia Day's YouTube channel Geek and Sundry and co-hosts the Undressing Podcast with Day. In 2018, he starred in Tilda Swinton Answers an Ad on Craigslist, a production that played in Los Angeles, Edinburgh, and London.
