About
Tom Aldredge, born Thomas Ernest Aldredge on February 28, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, was the son of Lucienne Juliet and William Joseph Aldredge. Initially a pre-law student at the University of Dayton in the 1940s, he shifted course and trained at the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago. From the 1950s through the 1980s, he performed frequently with the New York Shakespeare Festival, and during the 1960s he was part of Premise, a Greenwich Village improvisational troupe. He married costume designer Theoni V. Aldredge.
His film credits include "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," "Rounders," "Cold Mountain," "Intolerable Cruelty," "What About Bob?," "Message in a Bottle," "All the King's Men," "My Sassy Girl," "Lawn Dogs," and "The Adventures of Huck Finn." On television, he appeared in "The Sopranos," "Law & Order," "Boardwalk Empire," "Damages," "Third Watch," "Great Performances," "New York News," and "Now and Again."
In 1978, he received a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Children's Programming for "The CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People."
