About

Tiler Kalyn Peck, born January 12, 1989, in Bakersfield, California, is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet and a performer whose career spans ballet, Broadway, film, and television.

Peck began studying ballet at age two at her mother's studio in Bakersfield. At seven, she received private classical training in Hollywood from Alla Khaniashvili, a former Bolshoi Ballet dancer. She subsequently studied with New York City Ballet dancers Colleen and Patricia Neary in California and enrolled at the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica, where she trained under former NYCB principal Yvonne Mousey and developed her foundation in the Balanchine technique.

Her Broadway career began around 2000, when she performed in Susan Stroman's revival of Meredith Willson's The Music Man. During that production's run, Peck entered the School of American Ballet for the winter term of 2000–2001, enrolling as a full-time student beginning with the summer session of 2002. She joined New York City Ballet as an apprentice in September 2004, was promoted to the corps de ballet in February 2005, to soloist in December 2006, and to principal dancer in October 2009. Her Broadway credits also include On the Town, with her stage work extending through 2014.

Peck's repertoire at NYCB encompasses choreography by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Susan Stroman, Christopher Wheeldon, Peter Martins, and Justin Peck. Her leading roles with the company include productions of Jewels, The Nutcracker, Raymonda Variations, La Sylphide, Romeo and Juliet, Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake. She danced at the Kennedy Center Honors in both 2012 and 2014, performing before President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on each occasion.

In 2014, Peck launched Tiler Peck Designs, a dancewear collection carried by Body Wrappers, and performed at the Laguna Dance Festival alongside NYCB colleague Joaquín De Luz. That same year she reunited with Susan Stroman in Washington, D.C., to work on the musical Little Dancer, a production she returned to in 2019 after it was reworked and retitled Marie, Dancing Still. She has also performed as Clara in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and, in 2011, appeared as Marzipan in Live from Lincoln Center's broadcast of The Nutcracker. In 2013, she portrayed Louise Bigelow in the PBS telecast of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel at Lincoln Center.

Peck's film appearances include A Time for Dancing (2000), Geppetto (2000), Donnie Darko (2001), Catfish (2010), Enemy Within (2014), and the documentary Ballet 422 (2014), which follows choreographer Justin Peck's creative process. She was the central subject of the 2018 documentary Ballet Now, screened at the 2018 Seattle International Film Festival. In 2017, she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as the first ballerina to perform on that program. Her television credits include a guest appearance on Dancing with the Stars, a role as Sienna Milken in the 2020 Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things, and the role of Eva Cullman in Étoile, a 2025 series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. On December 8, 2025, she performed the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from Balanchine's The Nutcracker on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, accompanied by New York City Ballet Music Director Andrew Litton.

Born in Bakersfield, Peck married NYCB principal dancer Robbie Fairchild on June 22, 2014, in New York; the couple separated in 2017. In September 2024, she announced her engagement to ballet dancer Roman Mejia, and they married on June 22, 2025.
