About

Thomas Sadoski is an American actor born on July 1, 1976, in Bethany, Connecticut, to Polish-American parents. He was raised in College Station, Texas, and pursued formal theatrical training after briefly attending the University of North Texas. He graduated from the Circle in the Square Theatre School in 1998. His Broadway career spans 2004 to 2011, during which he appeared in four productions and earned recognition as one of his generation's notable stage performers.

Sadoski launched his New York stage career as an understudy for Mark Ruffalo and Mark Rosenthal in the Off-Broadway production of Kenneth Lonergan's This Is Our Youth at Second Stage Theatre, the first of multiple collaborations with that company. His breakthrough came in 2008 when he originated the role of Greg in Neil LaBute's reasons to be pretty at MCC Theater, appearing alongside Alison Pill. The production sold out its Off-Broadway run before transferring to Broadway in April 2009. The transfer generated three Tony Award nominations, including a Best Actor in a Play nomination for Sadoski, as well as three Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Actor in a Play, two Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, and three Drama League Award nominations. LaBute has credited Sadoski's influence on the play's notably warmer tone compared to the playwright's earlier work, stating that Sadoski's thoughtfulness helped him see new possibilities in the material.

Also during his Broadway tenure, Sadoski appeared in John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves alongside Ben Stiller, Edie Falco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Alison Pill, as well as in productions of Reckless and Other Desert Cities. He originated the role of Trip Wyeth in Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities at Lincoln Center Theater in 2011, a production that transferred to Broadway in November of that year after a sold-out Off-Broadway engagement. The Outer Critics Circle named it Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play in 2011, and Sadoski received both an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance.

Beyond the stage, Sadoski is widely recognized for his television work, particularly as Don Keefer in the HBO drama The Newsroom, which ran from 2012 to 2014, and as Matt Short in the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces, which ran from 2015 to 2019. In January 2011, he narrated the audiobook recording of Stephen King's Mile 81, which received favorable notices from both AudioFile magazine and Publishers Weekly for his understated delivery.

Sadoski married Kimberly Hope in 2007 after eight years together; the couple divorced in October 2015. He began dating actress Amanda Seyfried in early 2016, and the two confirmed their engagement in September 2016 before marrying on March 12, 2017. Their daughter was born on March 24, 2017, and a son followed in September 2020.

Sadoski is active in humanitarian work through several organizations. He serves as a board member of INARA, which provides medical treatment to children displaced by conflict, and as an ambassador for War Child USA and War Child Canada. He is also a member of the advisory board of Fortify Rights and a board member emeritus of Refugees International. In 2024, Niagara University presented him with an honorary doctorate in recognition of his humanitarian contributions.
