Thomas James O'Leary

Thomas James O'Leary, born June 21, 1956, is an American actor whose work spans theatre, film, and television. He began his performing career on the New York stage before moving into Broadway productions and eventually expanding into screen work, with a base in Los Angeles.

O'Leary's Broadway career ran from 1987 to 1992 and included productions of Les Misérables, Chess, The Phantom of the Opera, and Miss Saigon. He was a member of the original Broadway cast of Miss Saigon, and his association with Chess extended to the first U.S. tour of that production, on which he understudied the role of Freddie Trumper.

His most sustained stage work centered on The Phantom of the Opera. O'Leary performed the title role in the Third National Touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical for more than a year before returning to Broadway in the same role, where he remained from late 1996 through January 1999. Director Harold Prince selected O'Leary to perform the title role at the production's 10th anniversary celebration in 1998.
