About

Thom Christopher (October 5, 1940 – December 5, 2024) was an American actor born in Jackson Heights, New York. He received his education at Ithaca College and trained in acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse.

Christopher's stage career brought him to Broadway between 1973 and 1977, where he appeared in Caesar and Cleopatra, A Song at Twilight, and Emperor Henry IV. His Broadway work earned him a Theatre World Award in 1974.

On television, Christopher originated the role of Noel Douglas on the CBS daytime drama The Edge of Night in 1974. He went on to portray the character of Hawk, a half-man, half-bird warrior, during the second season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century in 1981. His most sustained television role came on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, where he played the villainous Pennsylvania mob boss Carlo Hesser across multiple stints from 1990 to 2008. He also portrayed Hesser's meek twin brother Mortimer Bern on the same series during 1992–1993 and again in 1997. Additional soap opera work included the role of Dante Partou and Joe Young on Loving from 1993 to 1994, and Colonel Dax on Guiding Light from 1999 to 2002. Christopher appeared in two episodes of Law and Order, playing Dr. Bertram Stokes and Alferandi Dilmanian between 2000 and 2004, and made multiple appearances on Murder, She Wrote between 1987 and 1989.

His film credits included Eddie Bronzi in S*H*E (1980), Shurka in Wizards of the Lost Kingdom (1985), Troxartas in Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (1988), and Niles Sterling in Nola (2003). He also provided the voice of The Hacker in the 2003 video game Cyberchase: Castleblanca Quest.

Christopher died on December 5, 2024, at the age of 84.
