About

Teddy Green is an English actor, dancer, and choreographer whose career has spanned stage, film, and television across several decades. He began his stage work in London in the mid-1950s, appearing in The Pajama Game in 1955 and When in Rome at the Adelphi Theatre in 1959–60.

Green gained early film recognition through two Cliff Richard productions. He played Chris in The Young Ones in 1961 and Steve in Summer Holiday in 1962, both of which brought him considerable visibility. His stage work continued alongside his film career, and in 1963 he appeared in the West End musical Pickwick, starring Harry Secombe, at the Saville Theatre.

His Broadway career ran from 1965 to 1968. He originated the role of Wiggins in Baker Street, which played at the Martin Beck Theatre beginning in 1965. Three years later, he appeared on Broadway again in Darling of the Day, playing Alf at the George Abbott Theatre in 1968, a production that also featured Vincent Price.

Green's stage work extended well beyond Broadway. He performed in Kiss Me Kate as Bill Calhoun/Lucentio at the London Coliseum in 1970, appeared in No, No, Nanette as Billy Early at Drury Lane in 1973, and took the role of De Rougemont in Very Good Eddie at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1976. He also worked as a director and choreographer, serving in both capacities for The Wizard of Oz at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne in 1983 and for Hot Shoe Shuffle at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton in 1996.

His film work includes a role as Muleteer in Man of La Mancha in 1972. On television, Green appeared in The Professionals, The Bretts, and Holby City, and was also featured on the BBC variety program The Good Old Days.
