About

James Tate Ellington, born April 17, 1979, in Madison, Mississippi, is an American actor whose work spans film, television, and stage. He is the son of Deborah (Cochran) and James R. Ellington, who operate a residential construction company. Ellington attended Madison-Ridgeland Academy, a private school in Madison, where he graduated in 1997 and spent three seasons as a starting center on the school's football team.

After high school, Ellington chose to enroll at the University of Mississippi as a double major in art and theater, declining a scholarship he had been offered by the Savannah College of Art and Design. He earned a bachelor's degree in theatre performance and became a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity during his time there.

Ellington's film career includes the lead role of Oliver Hunt in The Elephant King (2006), a performance that earned him the Best Actor award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival. In 2010, he appeared in the romantic drama Remember Me, portraying Aidan Hall, the best friend of the character Tyler Hawkins, played by Robert Pattinson.

His Broadway credit came in 2009, when he appeared in The Philanthropist, a production that starred Matthew Broderick. On television, Ellington has had roles in The Unusuals, Rescue Me, The Good Wife, and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. He became widely recognized for playing FBI recruit Simon Asher on the ABC thriller Quantico. Beginning September 25, 2017, he joined the main cast of NBC's drama The Brave, playing Noah Morgenthau in the military thriller, which was among the first two new series NBC announced for the 2017–18 season.

On May 20, 2012, Ellington married casting director Chrissy Fiorilli at the Dixie Gin in Shreveport, Louisiana.
