About
Sydney Widmer Seaward was an English actor born on 27 January 1884 in Blindley Heath, Godstone, Surrey, England. He died on 22 June 1967 in Matlock, Derbyshire, England, at the age of 83. During his early years, Seaward attended Reading School in Reading, where he was a member of the 1st XV Rugby Team.
Seaward's stage career brought him to Broadway in 1914, where he appeared in It Pays to Advertise, a production that ran into 1915. He later appeared in Journey's End at the Henry Miller Theatre in 1929, and performed in Over the Page at the Alhambra Theatre in London during the 1932–33 season.
His screen work spanned several decades, beginning with Pierre of the Plains in 1914. Throughout the 1920s, Seaward appeared in a number of British productions, including The Amateur Gentleman and The Tidal Wave, both released in 1920. The following year he took roles in The Woman of His Dream, The Yellow Claw, A Gentleman of France, and The Night Hawk. In 1922 he appeared in A Debt of Honour, and in 1923 he had roles in both The Loves of Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. His film appearances continued with Trainer and Temptress in 1925, The King's Highway in 1927, and A South Sea Bubble in 1928. His later screen credits included Contraband Love in 1931 and The Flaw in 1933.
