About
Swen Swenson (January 23, 1930 – June 23, 1993) was a Broadway dancer and singer whose career on the New York stage spanned from 1950 to 1981. Born in Inwood, Iowa, he received his training from dancer Mira Rostova and at the School of American Ballet.
Swenson accumulated an extensive list of Broadway credits over the course of his career, appearing in productions including Bless You All, Can-Can, Wildcat alongside Lucille Ball, A Joyful Noise, Annie, I Remember Mama, and the 1981 revival of Can-Can. He earned a Theatre World Award in 1963. Among his most prominent roles was his co-starring turn in Little Me, for which he received a Tony Award nomination and in which he introduced the song "I've Got Your Number." He also starred in No, No, Nanette.
Beyond the stage, Swenson appeared in films and on television variety programs, among them Your Show of Shows and The Ed Sullivan Show.
Swenson died in 1993.
