Suzanne Charny

Suzanne Charny is an American actress, dancer, and sculptor who appeared on Broadway between 1962 and 1966. Raised in Brooklyn, she attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. At the age of 15, she skipped school to audition for a production of West Side Story, earning a role as a "Shark" girl in a touring production that traveled to Australia.

Charny's Broadway credits include Do Re Mi and Sweet Charity. In the original Broadway production of Sweet Charity, she served as the lead female dancer in the "The Rich Man's Frug" sequence, a role she later reprised in the 1969 film adaptation. In early 1965, she was cast as one of the featured dancers on Hullabaloo, a weekly NBC musical variety series that ran through the spring of 1966. That same year, she guest starred on That Girl, appearing as Donald's computer-match date in a 1967 episode. In 1969, Charny performed for U.S. military personnel as part of Bob Hope's annual overseas tour.

From 1970 to 1986, Charny made frequent television appearances, with credits including The Night Stalker, Kojak, The Rockford Files, Starsky & Hutch, and The Incredible Hulk. In 2004, the Professional Dancers Society awarded her its Gypsy Robe in recognition of her contributions to the field of dance.

Alongside her performing career, Charny works as a sculptor. Her figural work centers on dancers in motion, a focus she traces to her Brooklyn childhood, where she watched her father construct larger-than-life nude sand sculptures at Brighton Beach.
