About

Susan Denin (March 22, 1835 – December 4, 1875) was an American actress born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father died during her childhood, and her mother subsequently married an actor named John Winans. At a young age, Denin and her sister Kate performed as dancing fairies at the National Theatre in Philadelphia.

Denin went on to establish herself as a recognized performer in New York City, across other regions of the United States, and in Canada. In 1848, she appeared on Broadway in New York As It Is. Her career also included an 1855 engagement at the Royal Lyceum in Toronto alongside her sister Kate. In 1869, she made her first appearance on the London stage in England.

Denin was married four times. Her death on December 4, 1875, resulted from a fall she sustained while performing on stage in Indianapolis, Indiana.
