Stephanie Klemons

Stephanie Klemons is an American Broadway performer and choreographer born on September 27, 1982, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. She grew up in Colts Neck Township, New Jersey, and graduated from Marlboro High School in 2000, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

Klemons attended Rutgers University on scholarship, where she pursued a double major in Genetics and Microbiology Research and Modern Dance. Her undergraduate research in cancer biology resulted in a published study in the International Journal of Oncology. Following her graduation from Rutgers in 2004, she spent four months in Spain, living with a family in Pozuelo de Alarcón outside Madrid and in the village of Oropesa, where she taught English to children.

Her dance training began at Gallery of Dance, which she attended until age 11. After relocating, she enrolled at Colts Neck Dance and Performing Arts Academy. During high school, she and a classmate made regular trips into Manhattan to study at S.T.E.P.S., Broadway Dance Center, and Studio Maestro with Luigi.

Klemons has appeared on Broadway from 2006 to 2015, with credits including Bombay Dreams, In the Heights, Bring It On, If/Then, and Hamilton. She served as an original cast member and Dance Captain of In the Heights, and held the same Dance Captain role in If/Then, which starred Idina Menzel. Her most prominent role is that of Associate Choreographer and original Dance Captain of Hamilton, the Broadway musical whose cast recording won a Grammy Award and achieved triple platinum certification.

Her album credits include the cast recordings of In the Heights (2009), If/Then (2014), and Hamilton (2016), as well as multiple volumes of BC/EFA Carols for a Cure released in 2008, 2009, 2014, and 2015, and Justin Imperiale's Passion in 2010.
