Stanley Beck, born June 5, 1936, in New York, New York, is an American actor and film producer whose work spans stage, television, and film. A life member of The Actors Studio, Beck built a career that encompassed notable Broadway appearances, recognizable film roles, and producing credits on three feature films.
Beck's stage career included a concentrated period of significant theatrical work in the early 1960s. In 1962, he appeared in the premiere of William Snyder's The Days and Nights of BeeBee Fenstermaker, portraying the character Ed Busby. His Broadway activity ran from 1964 to 1965 and included appearances in two Arthur Miller world premieres in the same year: Incident at Vichy and After the Fall, both in 1964. That same year he also appeared in a revival of Eugene O'Neill's Marco Millions. Additional Broadway credits from this period include The Changelings and the comedy The Country Wife.
On screen, Beck is recognized for two film performances in particular. He portrayed Stanly in the 1969 film John and Mary and Artie Silver in the 1974 film Lenny. Beyond acting, Beck pursued a producing career, with credits on three films: Straight Time in 1978, Death Valley in 1982, and Man, Woman and Child in 1983.
