About
Socorro Santiago is an American actress born on July 12, 1957, in New York City. Her father is Mexican and her mother is Puerto Rican. She trained at Juilliard and began her professional career as a dancer with a dance troupe before transitioning into acting.
Santiago made her acting debut in 1977 in the Off-Broadway production Crack. Three years later, she made her Broadway debut in The Bacchae in 1980. Her stage work established a foundation for a career that would extend across film and television.
On television, Santiago became recognizable to audiences through her appearances on Law & Order. She also held a recurring role on the daytime drama All My Children, portraying Isabella Santos from 1993 to 2004. Her voice acting credits include the animated series Dora the Explorer, on which she voiced the characters Mami and Tía from 2004 to 2006, as well as a role in the 1999 documentary series Frontline. She provided the voice of Conchita Gonzalez in the 2000 video game Smuggler's Run and voiced Teresa in the 2005 video game True Crime: New York City.
