About
Shirley Chambers was an American actress born in Seattle, Washington, on December 20, 1913. She attended Huntington Park High School, where winning a talent contest led to her entry into the film industry. Press agent Harry Reichenbach discovered her, and she went on to appear in several films during the 1930s, becoming known for playing dumb blonde characters in musical comedy pictures.
By 1939, Chambers had largely stepped away from film work. In 1935, she married Horace D. Moulton, who served in the United States Navy. Her career extended beyond film into live theater, and in 1943 she appeared on Broadway in the drama Winged Victory.
Chambers died on September 11, 2011, in Los Angeles at the age of 97.
