About
Shea Curry is an American actress born in 1972 or 1973 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The daughter of James and Kathy Curry, she grew up alongside two younger brothers and a younger sister. During her high school years at Hattiesburg High School, Curry performed in theatrical productions both at the school and with the Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera. In 1991, she earned a place in the all-star cast at Mississippi's state drama festival and represented Forrest County in the Mississippi's Young Woman of the Year competition. She went on to attend Marymount Manhattan College, where she studied on a full scholarship.
Curry's Broadway career includes a 1996 appearance in Show Boat, in which she performed opposite Cloris Leachman and Len Cariou. Her stage work also encompasses The Little Prince at the Promenade Theatre in New York, as well as productions of Can't Stop Dancin', West Side Story, and An Evening with Charles Strouse. In 2001, her performance as Blue in Beirut earned her a Garland Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play.
On screen, Curry made her television debut in a 1998 episode of NBC's One World. She subsequently appeared in Malcolm in the Middle, Lucky, Days of Our Lives, Grounded for Life, and Las Vegas. In 2004, she portrayed the lady's maid Brigitte in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. She was also filming the American adaptation of The IT Crowd on February 16, 2007, playing Emily opposite Joel McHale, and appeared in The Hard Times of RJ Berger in 2010 as Jenni. In October 2011, Curry competed on the Lifetime reality series Project Accessory.
During the production of The Princess Diaries 2, Curry began crafting jewelry during breaks on set, initially creating pieces as gifts for fellow cast members. That pastime eventually developed into a business called Shameless Jewelry, built around her signature approach of incorporating contrasting good girl and bad girl elements into each piece. Most of her designs are pewter plated with gold or sterling silver. Curry's original music is also featured on the A&R Network website.
