About

Sean Gregory Palmer, born January 23, 1973, in Reno, Nevada, is an American actor, singer, and dancer working across stage, screen, and television. Palmer came out as non-binary in October 2021 and uses they/them pronouns.

Palmer's Broadway career spans from 1997 to 2008 and encompasses both musicals and plays. Their earliest Broadway credits came as a swing in the 1997 production of Dream and the 1998 production of Fosse, the latter of which also included a national tour. In 1999, Palmer joined the Broadway cast of Saturday Night Fever, performing the role of Joey before taking over the role of Tony Manero. A 2006 Broadway revival of The Apple Tree featured Palmer in the ensemble and as cover to Mr. Kudisch. Palmer's final Broadway credit to date is The Little Mermaid, in which they originated the role of Prince Eric when the production opened on January 10, 2008. Palmer can be heard on the Original Broadway Cast recording of that production.

Beyond Broadway, Palmer has accumulated a wide range of stage credits in the United States and abroad. A 1996 national tour of Carousel included Palmer as Enoch Snow, and a 2005 national tour of The Boy Friend, directed by Julie Andrews, featured them as Tony Brockhurst. Regional credits include Kiss Me, Kate at North Shore Music Theatre in 2004, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Casa Mañana in 2010, and The Secret Garden at the Denver Center Theatre Company in 2017, where Palmer played Archibald Craven. International stage work includes On the Town with the English National Opera in 2007, Singin' in the Rain at Drury Lane Theatre in 2012, The Phantom of the Opera on the West End in 2013 as Raoul, and Crazy for You at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park in 2011. In 2010, Palmer appeared in a one-night-only concert semi-staged reading of Stephen Sondheim's Evening Primrose.

On television, Palmer is perhaps best known for the recurring role of Marcus, Stanford Blatch's boyfriend, on the HBO series Sex and the City. Palmer's film work includes a contribution to the soundtrack of the motion picture Easy Virtue.
