About

Sean Grandillo is an American actor, singer, and musician born on December 9, 1992, in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Aurora, Ohio, where he attended Leighton Elementary School before graduating from Aurora High School. Grandillo went on to study musical theatre at Ithaca College, leaving before completing his degree to join the cast of Spring Awakening in Los Angeles.

His departure from college followed a 2014 audition for Deaf West Theatre's production of Spring Awakening during a college break, after which he relocated to Los Angeles within two weeks to join the company. In the production, Grandillo played double bass in the band and served as the Voice of Otto, a role in which he provided the spoken voice while deaf actor Miles Barbee portrayed Otto Lämmermeier through sign language. He remained with the production as it transferred to Broadway, where it ran as a revival beginning in 2015. Grandillo's Broadway career spans from 2015 to 2026 and also includes credits in The Lost Boys and Oklahoma!

On television, Grandillo guest-appeared as Cooper in two episodes of ABC's crime drama Secrets and Lies in 2015. In January 2016, he guest-starred in an episode of NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, directed by Mariska Hargitay, playing Chris Roberts, a high school senior accused of sexually assaulting a freshman. That same year, he was cast in the recurring role of Eli Hudson in the second season of MTV's horror series Scream, appeared as Miles Brekov in the Netflix mystery series The OA, and recurred as Brett Young, Kenny's boyfriend, in the ABC comedy series The Real O'Neals. In 2018, he starred as Colin Cowher in the comedy-drama series Youth and Consequences. Grandillo also appeared in Justin Kelly's film King Cobra alongside James Franco.

On November 6, 2021, Grandillo began playing Curly McLain in the national tour of Oklahoma!, a role he continued through the 2021–2022 tour run.

As a musician, Grandillo's early work included performing in a My Chemical Romance cover band called Rumored Alone. He released his first single, "New," on October 15, 2015, followed by a second single, "Why Is It so Hard to Change," in August 2016. His debut EP, also titled Why Is It so Hard to Change, was released on September 2, 2016. On August 25, 2017, he released his debut album, Necessary Trouble, on iTunes and Spotify.
