About
Scott Jaeck is an American actor born on October 29, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, graduating in 1973, and later studied at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He was married to actress Mariann Mayberry, a member of the Steppenwolf Theater Company ensemble in Chicago, until her death on August 1, 2017.
Jaeck's Broadway career spans from 1996 to 2015 and includes three productions. He made his Broadway debut in The Night of the Iguana in 1996, playing Hank at the Criterion Center Stage Right. In 2008 and 2009, he appeared as Sheriff Deon Gilbeau in Tracy Letts's August: Osage County at the Roundabout Theatre Company. His most recent Broadway credit is Airline Highway in 2015, in which he played Wayne at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Beyond Broadway, Jaeck has built an extensive regional theater career. At Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, he took on a wide range of classical roles, including Marcus Antonius in Julius Caesar, Caliban in The Tempest, Don Adriano de Armado in Love's Labour's Lost, Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing, Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, and Cardinal Wolsey in Henry VIII, among others. At the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, his credits include Gabe in Dinner with Friends, Dorn in The Seagull, and Husband/Harrison in Stage Kiss. He performed three productions with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, playing Dunne in Penelope, Ivan Chebutykin in Three Sisters, and Richard Ehrlich in Time Stands Still. He has also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon and appeared at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., where his credits include Tamburlaine and Edward II at Sidney Harman Hall. Additional regional credits span the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Pasadena Playhouse, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Alliance Theatre, Writers' Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, Northlight Theatre, Court Theatre, and Cleveland Playhouse, among others.
On television, Jaeck portrayed Cain Garver on the soap opera Santa Barbara from 1987 to 1988. He held recurring roles on Charmed as Samuel Wilder and on ER as Dr. Steven Flint. He appeared as a police officer in the series finale of Seinfeld and had guest appearances in episodes of both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager.
