About

Scott Macalister Bryce, born January 6, 1958, in New York City, is an American film, television, and stage actor. The son of daytime actor Ed Bryce, who portrayed Bill Bauer on The Guiding Light for many years, Bryce grew up in Westport, Connecticut, where he attended Staples High School and participated in the school's student theater group, The Staples Players.

Bryce made his Broadway appearance in February 1977 at the Palace Theater, performing in Caesar and Cleopatra, a production starring Rex Harrison. The engagement marked his entry into professional performance while he was still a teenager.

His most prominent role came in daytime television, where he joined the cast of As the World Turns in 1982, playing Craig Montgomery. He was initially paired opposite Meg Ryan and remained in the role through 1987, returning for additional stints through 1994. The show brought Bryce back again in 2007, though it was announced in January 2008 that he had been released from the part. The role earned him two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, in 1986 and 1987, as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Young Leading Actor in a Daytime Serial in 1986 and a further Soap Opera Digest nomination for Outstanding Hero: Daytime in 1988.

Beyond daytime television, Bryce accumulated a range of primetime credits. He played the recurring role of Will Forrest, Faith Ford's husband, on Murphy Brown from 1990 to 1992, and appeared on The Facts of Life, ER, Law and Order, Sex and the City, and Reba, among others. He portrayed Dr. Ed Crosby in episodes of ABC's One Life to Live in 2006 and 2007. Additional television appearances include roles on The Golden Girls, Matlock, 2000 Malibu Road, Popular, Diagnosis: Murder, Homeland, 30 Rock, Blue Bloods, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and The Blacklist. In 2014, he played Senator Tom Wesley in the soap opera web series Beacon Hill.

His film work includes a role in Lethal Weapon 3 in 1992, credited as Scott M. Bryce, as well as appearances in Visions of Murder, Up Close and Personal, and Above Freezing. Outside of performing, Bryce opened a three-camera television studio in a former vaudeville theater in Connecticut.
