About

Anthony Scott Teague, born Edwin Ardell Teague on January 4, 1940, in Jacksboro, Texas, was an American actor and dancer who performed under the name Scooter Teague. The son of Herman Charles Teague and Oleta Jones Teague, he completed his secondary education at North Hollywood High School, graduating in the summer of 1958. He died of cancer on June 2, 1989, and was survived by a son, Christian, born in 1972, a daughter, Kendall, born in 1975, and a brother, Charles A. Teague.

Teague's early career included television appearances on The Danny Thomas Show, Alcoa Theatre, and The Donna Reed Show. He also established a presence in film, taking the role of Big Deal, one of the Jets, in the 1961 production West Side Story. He later appeared as Bud Frump in the 1967 film adaptation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and as Clarence in the 1969 Elvis Presley film The Trouble with Girls.

His Broadway career spanned from 1963 to 1975 and included the productions 110 in the Shade, No, No, Nanette, A Chorus Line, and Promise. In 110 in the Shade, Teague originated the role of Jimmy Curry as part of the show's original cast. He subsequently played Billy Early in No, No, Nanette. Beyond his Broadway engagements, Teague portrayed Zach, the audition director, in two national touring productions of A Chorus Line.
