About
Savannah Wise, born April 25, 1984, is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She is the daughter of dancer and actor Scott Wise. Wise earned a degree in dance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Wise's Broadway career spans credits in Ragtime, Rock of Ages, Les Misérables, and High School Musical. As a child performer, she appeared in the original Broadway production of Les Misérables in the role of Young Cosette. In the 2009 revival of Ragtime, she played Evelyn Nesbit. Her work on Rock of Ages included originating the role of Waitress #1 and subsequently stepping into the role of Sherrie, with her performances documented on the original Broadway cast recording released in 2009.
Off Broadway, Wise took on the lead role of Wanda Clark in Lucky Guy, which opened May 19, 2011. The production had been scheduled for a twelve-week limited engagement but closed ten days after opening, on May 29, 2011. A planned original cast recording for the show was never completed.
Wise is also recognized for her recurring role as Jessica on the NBC musical drama series Smash. Development on the show had originated with Steven Spielberg and began at Showtime under then-entertainment president Robert Greenblatt. Wise initially auditioned for a series regular position but was cast in the smaller role of Jessica, a member of the ensemble in the fictional musical Bombshell. The role expanded from a limited guest appearance into a recurring part, and Wise ultimately appeared in 29 of the series' 32 episodes before the show was cancelled after two seasons. Her work on Smash is represented on several recordings, including Bombshell: The New Marilyn Musical from SMASH and SMASH: The Complete Season One, both released in 2013.
Her discography includes additional recordings spanning demo cast albums and collaborative projects, among them Go-Go Beach in 2007, Not Exactly Romeo in 2010, The Last Word in 2011, a 2011 single with Kyle Dean Massey titled Needle in a Haystack, and a contribution to The Songs of Paul Fujimoto, Vol. 1 in 2015.
