Samantha Soule is an American actress, film director, and screenwriter whose work spans Broadway, Off-Broadway theater, film, and television. Her Broadway career ran from 2002 to 2009 and included appearances in Dinner at Eight, Coram Boy, and The Philanthropist.
Among Soule's notable stage work outside of Broadway, she took part in The Hill Town Plays in 2013, a theater festival produced by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and dedicated to the work of playwright Lucy Thurber. The festival was staged across multiple New York City venues. Soule played the role of Lizzie in Thurber's Killers and Other Family, appearing both in its New York premiere and in a subsequent revival at Axis Theater One Sheridan Square. She also appeared Off-Broadway in The Other Thing, a play by Emily Schwend produced by Second Stage Theater. In A. R. Gurney's The Dining Room, performed at the Clurman Theater in New York, Soule and her castmates received a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance.
On television, Soule is recognized for her recurring and guest roles across a range of productions. She portrays Charlotte Temple in the Netflix Western series Godless, which was produced by Steven Soderbergh and centers on women's experiences. Additional television credits include Nurse Jackie, The Blacklist, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Tales of the City, in which she plays a character named Inka. She appears as Miss Jean Blake in the miniseries The Queen's Gambit.
In film, Soule has a role in The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, as well as in No Retreat and How We Got Away with It. As a director, her credits include Birdwatching and Midday Black Midnight Blue. She also stars in and co-wrote the screenplay for Midday Black Midnight Blue, which received a nomination for Best Screenplay at the 2021 Anchorage International Film Festival.
