Ryan Eggold

Ryan James Eggold is an American actor born on August 10, 1984, in Lakewood, California. He attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School, graduating in 2002, where he took part in school theater productions. He went on to earn a degree in theater arts from the University of Southern California in 2006.

Eggold launched both his professional television and film careers in 2006, making a guest appearance on the series Related and appearing in the short film Con: The Corruption of Harm. That same year, he made his professional stage debut in the Ahmanson Theatre/Center Theatre Group production of Dead End, directed by Nick Martin. He subsequently appeared in stage productions of Leipzig and Marat/Sade, the latter of which received an LA Weekly Theater Award. Eggold also wrote, directed, and starred in an original production, Amy and Elliot, staged at the Stella Adler Theatre alongside Alexandra Breckenridge.

Before landing a series regular role, Eggold accumulated recurring credits on The Young and the Restless, Entourage, Out of Jimmy's Head, Brothers and Sisters, Veronica Mars, and FX's Dirt. He gained wider recognition portraying English teacher Ryan Matthews on the CW series 90210, a role he held from 2008 to 2011. In January 2015, he appeared in the History Channel miniseries Sons of Liberty as Dr. Joseph Warren, a historical figure connected to Sam Adams and Paul Revere. From 2013 to 2017, Eggold played Tom Keen, a main character on the NBC drama The Blacklist, and reprised a version of the role in the 2017 spin-off The Blacklist: Redemption. He then starred as Dr. Max Goodwin in the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam from 2018 to 2023.

In 2024, Eggold made his Broadway debut in Yellow Face. Outside of acting, he plays guitar and piano, sings, and writes music as a member of the band Eleanor Avenue. He has also founded Analog A Productions, which holds a first-look deal at Universal Television, with Kara Frias serving as head of development for the company.
