About
Ruthelma Stevens (1903–1984) was an American actress whose career spanned both Broadway and film. Born to Beatrice Stevens, she built her professional reputation on the stage before transitioning to work in motion pictures.
Stevens maintained an active presence on Broadway from 1927 to 1953. Her stage credits included Speak Easy (1927), Jarnegan (1928), Hotel Universe (1930), Roadside (1930), Anatol (1931), Life Begins (1932), and A Red Rainbow (1953). Her work across these productions demonstrated a career that extended over more than two decades in the theater.
Her stage experience led to opportunities in film, where her debut came in the screen adaptation of Life Begins. Following that appearance, she secured a long-term studio contract. Her film work is documented in Aubrey Solomon's reference volume The Fox Film Corporation, 1915–1935: A History and Filmography, published by McFarland in 2011.
In November 1933, Stevens married Waldo H. Logan, described at the time as a wealthy young sportsman, in Yuma, Arizona. The marriage was not publicly disclosed until June 1934.
