About

Rosanna Huffman (August 12, 1938 – May 20, 2016) was an American actress and voice-over artist whose career spanned stage, film, and television from the 1960s through the 2000s. She was born to Doras and Christine Huffman in Timblin, Pennsylvania, a small coal mining town. After relocating to New York in the 1960s, she was cast in a lead role in the 1965 Broadway production of Half a Sixpence, marking her entry into professional performance.

Huffman married Richard Levinson in 1969, the co-creator of Columbo and Murder, She Wrote, and the couple subsequently moved to Los Angeles. Following the move, she secured a lead role in the musical comedy Jane Heights. During the 1970s, she guest-starred in two episodes of Columbo, among them the 1971 episode "Suitable for Framing," in which she played the partner of a murderous art critic portrayed by Ross Martin, whose character kills hers. She also appeared in seven episodes of Murder, She Wrote across a decade, a series her husband had co-created. Levinson died of a heart attack in 1987, and Huffman remained his widow until her own death.

Her television work extended across numerous series, including The Big Valley, Mission: Impossible, Ellery Queen, The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, The Golden Girls, Family Ties, Cagney & Lacey, Tucker's Witch, and ER. She held a recurring role on Hill Street Blues as the former wife of Joe Spano's character, Lt. Henry Goldblume, and also appeared in a recurring capacity on Murder One.

Huffman's voice work in film included Oliver & Company (1988), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992), and Babe (1995). She died of pancreatic cancer on May 20, 2016, at her home in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 77.
