Roger Coggio was a French actor, film director, and screenwriter born on March 11, 1934. Over the course of his career, he accumulated credits across stage and screen, working in film from 1954 through 1998 and appearing in approximately 40 productions during that span.
Coggio made his Broadway appearance in 1958, performing in Lorenzaccio. His stage work extended beyond France to include this engagement in New York, demonstrating a career that crossed national boundaries.
His film career began with Before the Deluge in 1954, followed by Fruits of Summer in 1955 and Forgive Us Our Trespasses in 1956. Later credits included Girl on the Road in 1962 and The Immortal Story in 1968. He continued working through the 1970s and 1980s, with appearances in Belle and La dernière bourrée à Paris, both in 1973, as well as C'est encore loin l'Amérique in 1980, Le bourgeois gentilhomme in 1981, and Monsieur de Pourceaugnac in 1985.
Coggio was married to actress Pascale Audret. He died on October 22, 2001, of cancer, at the age of 67.
