Robin Gammell is a Canadian actor born on September 22, 1936, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, whose career has spanned stage, film, and television.
Gammell's stage career began at the Stratford Festival, where he performed as a junior ensemble member in a range of classical roles. These included Robin Starveling in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Octavius in Julius Caesar, Ariel in The Tempest, and Malcolm in Macbeth. He later returned to the role of Malcolm for the 1961 television film Macbeth, which starred Sean Connery in the title role. His stage work extended to Broadway in 1968, where he appeared in both The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Choephori.
On screen, Gammell built a substantial body of work in film across several decades. His film credits include The Pyx (1973), Lipstick (1976), Raid on Entebbe (1977), Rituals (1977), Full Circle (1977), The Concorde ... Airport '79 (1979), Murder by Phone (1982), The Star Chamber (1983), Project X (1987), and Striker's Mountain (1987). His performance in Klondike Fever earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the 1st Genie Awards in 1980.
Gammell's television career included recurring or starring roles in Wiseguy, WIOU, Street Legal, Amazing Grace, Millennium, Manhattan AZ, and Judging Amy, as well as guest appearances on Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, The Commish, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Nip/Tuck, and How to Get Away With Murder. He also portrayed several historical figures in docudrama productions, playing Walter Moberly in The National Dream: Building the Impossible Railway, American espionage chief William J. Donovan in the miniseries A Man Called Intrepid, and Adolf Hitler in an episode of Witness to Yesterday.
In his personal life, Gammell was in a relationship with Gretchen Corbett. The two had one child, Winslow Corbett, born in 1979.
