About

Roberta Jonay (October 15, 1921 – April 19, 1976) was an American actress born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, whose career spanned both Broadway and film. She worked across stage and screen during the 1940s, establishing herself in notable productions in both mediums.

On Broadway, Jonay originated the role of Jennie in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Allegro in 1947. The production marked her credited Broadway appearance and placed her among the original cast of one of the era's significant musical works.

Her film work during the same period included appearances in two Paramount pictures. She had a role in Suddenly, It's Spring, released in 1947, and followed that with a part in The Emperor Waltz in 1948.

In 1950, Jonay married actor Judson Pratt, and the couple had three children together. She died on April 19, 1976, in Tarzana, California, at the age of 54, following a battle with cancer. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California.
