Robert Gerard Goulet, born November 26, 1933, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, earned a scholarship to study opera at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He married Louise Longmore; they had a daughter, Nicolette. His second marriage, to actress Carol Lawrence, produced sons Christopher and Michael. He later married Vera Novak.
Film credits include "Beetlejuice," "Toy Story 2," "Scrooged," "Atlantic City," "Mr. Wrong," "I'd Rather Be Rich," "The Last Producer," "Honeymoon Hotel," "The Daydreamer," "I Deal in Danger," and "Underground." Among his television appearances: "The Simpsons," "Boy Meets World," "Murder, She Wrote," "The King of Queens," "The Love Boat," "In the Heat of the Night," "Las Vegas," "The Big Valley," and "Mission: Impossible."
He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1975. His first professional work in the United States was in summer stock theatre with the Kenley Players. On October 31, 2007, the marquees of Broadway houses were dimmed in his honor.
